Itec West has won a gold award in the category 'Large Business' in the Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce & Industry's prestigious annual Business of the Year awards.
The office automation and telecommunications solutions provider was selected as the category winner out of a field comprising many of the West Rand's largest and most successful businesses.
The award winners were announced at a gala event hosted at the SilverStar casino, on 7 November. The award recognises Itec West's achievements across a range of areas, including black economic empowerment, growth in revenue and profitability, customer satisfaction, jobs created, its contributions to the community in the form of corporate social investment and its role in growing the West Rand's regional economy.
Itec West was founded seven years ago by Rodney Taylor, and has since grown from a three-person operation into a business with an annual turnover of more than R60 million and 70 employees. A specialist provider of office automation and telecommunication solutions to businesses of all sizes, it counts some of Roodepoort's largest organisations among its clients.
“We're thrilled to have received this award from the Chamber of Commerce. Although the operating environment is tough, we have grown throughout the recession,” says Taylor. “I would like to thank all our customers, suppliers and employees for their support throughout the years. Itec West looks forward to being a fixture in the Roodepoort business landscape for many years to come.”
The rigorous due diligence that all prizewinners in the Business of the Year category undergo means that this award is a meaningful one. Companies are nominated by third parties such as customers and suppliers, and are then closely scrutinised by the Chamber and an independent board made up of regional business representatives and experts. Nominees' financial statements are examined in great detail, and their suppliers and customers are randomly interviewed.
