Networking and Internet-enablement company iti Online has been awarded Internet Service Provider (ISP) partner status by Lucent Technologies, the global telecom equipment and services company.
"iti Online can now use Lucent`s vast portfolio of networking products to provide business solutions and build the networks of the future," says Lance Terner, director of iti Online.
"This award will give us access to top Internet and network technology, and the endorsement and backing of one of the world`s largest networking companies."
Terner says iti Online, a member company of JSE-listed ITI Technology Holdings, is one of Lucent`s largest ISP customers. "Through Lucent`s INS distribution channel GMT Connectivity, we have standardised our Remote Access network based on Lucent`s PortMaster Integrated Access Concentrators. Our network has grown to include Lucent`s core Quality of Service (QoS) and Remote Access (RAS) products, and includes new services and offerings which equip us for the future.
"End-users, enterprise customers, traditional telephony service providers and ISPs face an unprecedented set of challenges as the worlds of voice, video and data networks converge. Everyone accepts that the ultimate goal is a fully converged multi-service environment," adds Terner.
"That`s what end-users are demanding. Service providers want to provide this quickly and cost-effectively."
Dion Oliviera, business development manager of Lucent Technologies InterNetworking Systems group, says: "Lucent is positioned to bring the reliability of voice networks to the data world, providing a complete range of solutions - from premise-based LANs to the optical backbones used for intercontinental transmission. "Together with our partners we`re focused on the fastest growing markets."
At a recent ceremony Oliviera presented an award to iti Online in recognition of its support of the Lucent product portfolio.
