ITR Technology today launched PwrSmart 3.0, the latest version of the company's simple, automated PC power management solution designed to help companies reduce energy consumption, extend the life of IT assets and support green IT initiatives.
At the UN Climate Change Conference, more than 190 countries gathered to seek consensus on an international strategy for fighting global warming. According to industry estimates, when implemented correctly, PC power management can enable organisations to reduce their overall energy consumption up to 15% creating a smaller carbon footprint for the company and lowering its overall impact on the environment.

Key PwrSmart features
New features and functionality in PwrSmart 3.0 include the ability to schedule numerous actions, such as complete PC shutdowns, hibernations or wake-up events. PwrSmart 3.0 also has the capability to exclude power management actions with consideration for critical running applications, work schedules and maintenance - minimising end-user impact.
Leveraging patented technology, PwrGroups make it simple for IT administrators to dynamically target and group computer configurations with similar power management requirements - standardising PC power management across an organisation. This same technology also automatically monitors systems for configuration changes and continuously enforces selected power management profiles and settings, even if end-users try to disable or change them.

* PwrSmart comes with pre-packaged, US EPA-recommended PC power management schemes; power schemes are also completely customisable and can accommodate multiple power schedules per PC.
* PwrSmart's energy savings calculator displays real-time insight and savings resulting from standardised PC power management. The product's flexible reporting engine also allows organisations to demonstrate compliance with corporate policies and provide quantitative data for energy rebates and sustainability reports.
* PwrGroups can be built based on Active Directory groups, PC location, IP address ranges, hardware configuration, operating system languages, time zones or numerous other settings and configurations.
