ITWeb recognised as a top 20 non-listed company

ITWeb has been named one of the top 20 companies in the SA Non-Listed Company Awards for a second time. The competition, co-sponsored by Business Day, KPMG and the Wits Business School, recognises entrepreneurial skills and innovation among companies that are not listed on the JSE.

The accolade is ITWeb`s second this year - it was also named as a finalist in the Brait, Gemini Consulting and Business Report Growth Awards 2002.

The overall Non-Listed Company Award winner, speciality store Stuttafords, was named at an awards ceremony in Johannesburg yesterday. Black-controlled foreign exchange dealership Master Currency received a special mention award.

ITWeb was one of only two media companies to be named as one of the top 20 candidates for the award - the other being the Touchline Media Group. Touchline is a magazine publishing and communications company serving sports and lifestyle sectors.

ITWeb was also one of six technology-related companies among the finalists. The others were technology services company Azisa, provider the Information Trust Corporation, solutions provider Namitech, electronic engineering group Parsec, and telecommunications player Psitek.

To be considered for the award, companies must have an annual turnover of at least R10 million, pre-tax annual profit of at least R400 000 and gross of R2 million or more.

To be named as a finalist, a company must comply with a range of strict criteria and rigorous screening. The award is also intended to pay tribute to business achievement, visionary strategy, sustainable empowerment and sound corporate governance.

ITWeb was also named among the top 20 companies in the Non-Listed Companies Awards in 2000.
