Ixchange consolidates Cape HEAT VAR channel

Johannesburg, 17 May 1999

JSE-listed Ixchange has quickened its momentum in the Cape channel by signing on Cape Town-based networking specialist Ndizani Enterprise Networks (NEN) as a HEAT VAR. The 100% empowerment-owned company is a division of Ndizani Information Communication along with Ndizani Training Solutions, Call Centre Solutions and Software Solutions.

The appointment of Ndizani is in line with Ixchange`s local and global commitment to broaden the base of HEAT resellers in all key markets. This drive is headed up by Rob Katz, Ixchange`s international director.

NEN is a certified Microsoft Solution Provider (MSP) as well as a Novell business partner. Its three divisions - desktop and server, applications and networking and project management - concentrate on desktop hardware rollout, LAN and WAN design and maintenance, and project management methodologies respectively.

MD Dean Spyropoulos says although the company`s focus is national, it is working to build from and grow the Cape channel as a priority.

"The helpdesk is a vital component in our channel strategy, giving us the internal systems and external value-add our clients demand," says Spyropoulos. "With the backing of Ixchange and its global helpdesk expertise, we`re bringing a whole new outlook to market that`s previously been in short supply."

NEN holds a 20% share of its Cape market, with government clients and parastatals making up most of this base.

"The spotlight has moved away from products to services," says Spyropoulos. "We can`t keep on moving product and expect to stay in business, or benefit the market in any way. To push forward we must deliver services that our clients need."

HEAT helps NEN improve on its service delivery targets by maximising its internal resources. 60 contracted engineers now have a direct resource to collect and act on service calls, and the company in turn has a monitoring system in place to gauge its engineers` performance.

"HEAT`s Web-based interface allows us to cut down on costly office space and provide service to our engineers irrespective of location, so long as they can dial in to our network," adds Spyropoulos.

Ixchange Cape regional manager Stanton Jandrell believes that as a VAR and business partner, NEN will be able to pass on its helpdesk expertise to its clients, either as a commodity sale or an outsourced service.

"Ndizani is one of a select group of companies we`ve identified as a key player in the Cape channel, and therefore a perfect conduit of HEAT into the market," says Jandrell. "We`ll be working closely over the next few months to help one another develop our respective markets and collectively grow the Cape market as a whole."

Ixchange has enjoyed significant success across South Africa and globally with its HEAT VAR programme since appointing Rob Katz to drive
