Jacada CEO to address seminar on integration, reuse of legacy applications

Johannesburg, 06 Feb 2004

Solving business integration and extension challenges by ripping out existing IT systems and replacing them to fit in with a 'new world' is not an option for most IT managers.

This is according to Alex Steyn, Managing Director of CommerceQuest SA, a local integration specialist that will hold a free half-day seminar to address IT and business integration challenges on Wednesday, 10 March at the Hilton Sandton.

Gideon Hollander, CEO of Jacada USA, and local industry analyst Eion Gibson from META Group South Africa will address the local market on the benefits of extending and leveraging existing technologies, how local companies can use and maximise their existing investment in legacy 'nuggets' and how to take forward information to embrace new world technologies.

According to Steyn: "There are very few companies in SA that haven't over the past 30 years gathered a complex combination of legacy, packaged and custom-built applications, as well as a myriad of operating systems, hardware platforms and databases, creating silos of information that were never meant to integrate or interoperate."

"Add to this business applications and new technologies acquired over the past few years - including CRM, call centre, ERP applications, Web and Windows applications, as well as the requirement to integrate with partners, suppliers and customers - the reality is that there are very few companies around that can afford to tear out and replace what's already there and start afresh, "she says.

The biggest headache and challenge facing most senior IT managers today is to work out how to integrate the investment of legacy information and processes into new world applications.

CommerceQuest SA and Jacada, one of the world's leading providers of legacy integration and Web-enablement solutions, are hosting this free half-day seminar.

The seminar is aimed at senior IT managers through to project managers, including IT architects, CRM/call centre managers/directors and IT directors.

This integration and reuse of legacy applications seminar will examine through the discussion of real case scenarios how many companies have taken on board the challenges of architecting the IT infrastructure to enable greater flexibility.

"This is an opportunity for IT professionals to find out how AxA, Citibank, Barclays Bank, Delta Airlines, SAAB and many more have architected their current IT infrastructure to enable greater flexibility to deliver new, highly scalable business applications across the Web that help them compete more effectively in the new global markets," says Steyn.

Registration is at 13.30 with the seminar commencing at 14.00 to finish by 16.15, and will be followed by a cocktail reception. To register for this event, please call Gamieda Allie on (011) 447-4701, or e-mail gamieda.allie@commercequest.co.za.
