Paragon keeps plans current

SunGard Availability Services has made a new version of its Paragon software available, reports Continuity Central.

The new version of Paragon adds tools to keep up with organisational and infrastructure changes so plans are always current. It also uses SunGard's intellectual capital generated from writing thousands of business continuity plans and running over 100 000 tests.

"An information availability program is only effective if it reflects today's business and technology environments," said Ann Pickren, senior VP of Software Products Group at SunGard Availability Services.

ExaGrid awarded new patents

ExaGrid Systems has patented a method and apparatus for both backing up to a NAS-based system with byte-level delta data de-duplication, as well as ensuring long-term data integrity and recoverability, reports AG-IP-News.

The two new patents are: US Patent number 7 246 140: "Method and Apparatus for Storage System to Provide Distributed Data Storage and Protection", and US Patent number 7 246 275: "Method and Apparatus for Managing Data Integrity of Backup and Disaster Recovery Data."

The technology behind these two ExaGrid patents gives real-world benefits to customers.
