Jasco Broadcast Solutions, a division of Jasco ICT Solutions, is now offering the latest additions to the Avid media editing range as part of its end-to-end solutions offering to the broadcast market.
Avid creates tools for the professional within the broadcasting space, from audio and music to video and newsroom, as well as a range of consumer home video editing tools and software. Media Composer 6 is the latest release in Avid's range of professional video editing software, and Pro Tools 10 and HDX represents the newest update to its digital audio workstation platform.
“These tools form part of the broader Avid suite of products, offering full featured individual tools that are also fully interoperable with each other. Jasco Broadcast Solutions brings world-class production and post-production tools to the sub-Saharan African market, along with a wide range of other solutions and branded products,” says Steve Lauter, Sales Manager at Jasco Broadcast Solutions.
“As a major release, version 6 of Media Composer incorporates several exciting changes from version 5.5. One of the biggest changes is the new Avid Open I/O, which opens up the software to be used with third-party vendor hardware,” says Oystein Riise Naess, Applications Specialist at Avid. This means that instead of having to use Avid proprietary hardware as before, professionals can now work with their choice of interfaces, including Avid hardware and products from leading manufacturers like AJA and Matrox.
“ProTools 10 and HDX represent a significant leap forward for the world's favourite digital audio workstation platform. The toolset offers powerful features and functionality for recording, composing, editing and mixing music and sound to picture,” says Ravisankar Nadiyam, Avid Audio Sales Manager. New features in Pro Tools 10 include Clip Gain, Disk Cache, increased track count, 24-hour session timeline, support for multiple bit-rates and file formats in a session, increased Automatic Delay Compensation, support for 32-bit floating point audio, etc.
The Media Composer 6 family, including Symphony and NewsCutter, offers enhanced 64-bit capability for better performance and more complex editing. It also allows users to work in practically any media format using qualified PC or Mac and integrate into a variety of workflows enabling solo work as well as seamless collaboration. Smart Tool enables faster editing, and the powerful toolset allows for precision editing capabilities of standard definition, high definition and even 3D stereoscopic video material. Additional features allow for the authoring of Blu-ray and DVD disks in Windows and optimisation features for both Web and disk playback.
Updates and enhancements to Media Composer and Pro Tools come as a direct result of demand from the Avid user community, and both the Media Composer 6 family and the Pro Tools 10 suites have been favourably received since their respective launches.
The full Avid range as well as a selection of interoperable AJA and Matrox products are available immediately from Jasco Broadcast solutions. A free 30-day trial of Media Composer 6 is available from http://apps.avid.com/media-composer-trial/.
