Jasco has been appointed a value-added reseller (VAR) of Nokia Networks Mobile Broadband (MBB) and wireless access solutions to the southern African market. This move will enable Nokia Networks to leverage additional channels to market to take advantage of additional customer opportunities in the region, while giving Jasco the ability to resell a world-class solution to carriers and other operators.

"Our VARs undergo a rigorous and well-defined selection process, which requires them to demonstrate their technical and delivery capabilities. Jasco was selected based on a number of criteria, including their deep and explicit knowledge of the African telco market and significant presence in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. In addition, their strong financial background, track record with valuable references and rich history of relationships with international suppliers, along with their lean organisational structure, adherence to international ISO standards and internal auditing procedures, made them the ideal partner," says Rock Missamou, Nokia Networks Middle East.

Nokia Networks MBB solutions provide high-quality and cost-efficient network capacity and coverage with many unique features that will be beneficial to customers in the southern African market. Some unique features of Nokia Networks MBB solutions include their ability to decrease the load on networks, increase the speed of connection, improve the responsiveness of applications and increase the battery life of devices.

"Nokia Networks is the first large vendor to adopt a model specifically aimed at selling to Tier 2 operators, such as those in southern Africa. This gives carriers, Internet service providers (ISPs) and other organisations access to world-class technology that was not previously available to them. This move also enables Nokia Networks to reach new markets in a cost-effective fashion, so it is a win-win situation for all parties involved," says Eckart Zollner, Head of Business Development at Jasco ICT.

Jasco will be receiving training on Nokia Networks products to enable it to take over the full customer relationship on behalf of Nokia Networks. This includes selling of solutions as well as value-added services, customer management and customer support.

"We will be focusing primarily on delivering Nokia Networks wireless access technology around LTE, which is an area of strategic importance to us as there is significant opportunity in this space in the African market. Our region covers a number of countries, including Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Angola, Zambia, Malawi, Lesotho, Swaziland and Mozambique," says Zollner.

"This is an excellent opportunity for us, as it puts us in a position to deal with network providers and carriers in Africa that were previously dealing directly with Nokia Networks. We have a range of complementary products and services, including WiFi, infrastructure, power solutions, security and more, as well as full managed services offerings. As a Nokia Networks VAR, we will be able to bundle services for our customers across the extensive Jasco portfolio, presenting opportunities for cross-selling to a new, wider customer base in Africa," he concludes.

Nokia Networks MBB solutions are available immediately from Jasco.
