Jataayu Mobile Device Solutions, a subsidiary of Bharti Telesoft, has released Zing, a mobile Web browsing application. It is expected to bring the full Web experience to a wide range of cellphone users, according to the company.
The Indian mobile application developer unveiled the product during AfricaCom, which is being held in Cape Town this week.
Jataayu VP Raj Kesarimall says Zing will be available for Java-enabled mobile users across all segments of the subscriber base. “We see Zing having a major impact on the way people experience the mobile Internet and expect operators to benefit from increased mobile Internet uptake and use.”
The application will give users more content for the same amount of data usage, according to a statement from Jataayu. Using Zing's navigation features, mobile users will enjoy a simplified browsing experience, which will in turn help operators to retain customers and generate increased mobile Internet usage, it adds.
“IBM Global Business states the mobile Internet market will generate revenue of $80 billion by 2011, and currently operators are only realising a small proportion of the overall market potential. Zing will enable operators worldwide to increase their share of the mobile Internet market significantly.”
