JD Edwards streamlines global organisation

Cites executive realignment as important step in the company`s turnaround
Johannesburg, 19 Nov 2002

JD Edwards & Company recently announced that it has optimised its global organisation, eliminated a layer of senior management, and streamlined key executive reporting lines. As a result, the company expects to increase its responsiveness, be better attuned to the needs of its target markets, and ensure stronger focus on serving customer needs.

"The continuing success of JD Edwards is based, in part, on our ability to quickly respond to our customers` needs, to quickly adapt to shifting market demands and to execute with focus and urgency. The changes announced today are an important step in achieving these goals and are symptomatic of our commitment to creating an organisation that continually creates improved opportunities for all our stakeholders," said Bob Dutkowsky, chairman, CEO and president. "JD Edwards will be a more efficient and nimble organisation."

As part of the changes, the company is eliminating the position of chief operating officer. Hank Bonde, who served as COO, will leave JD Edwards effective 31 December. He will serve in an advisory role to assist in the transition until that time.

The following individuals and functions will report to Dutkowsky, effective immediately:

Rick Allen, executive vice-president/chief financial officer: Finance and Administration.
Harry Debes, senior vice-president: Americas Sales, Consulting and Services
Mark Endry, senior vice-president/chief information officer: Information Technology
Idella Kercher, vice-president: Customer Solutions
Michael Madden, group vice-president/chief technology officer: Software Engineering
Richard Mathews, senior vice-president: International Sales, Consulting and Services
Patti McMillan, director: Executive Operations
Skip Paterson, vice-president: Human Resources
Dave Siebert, group vice-president: WorldSoftware Division
Les Wyatt, senior vice-president/chief marketing officer: Marketing and Product Management

"Consolidating the management team under this reporting structure makes JD Edwards more effective on multiple levels. We are now better equipped to identify and exploit opportunities in our target markets. We will realise tighter alignment among sales, services, marketing, product management and software engineering. These changes improve the vital connections between our Americas and International organisations, our corporate and field activities, and the management team and employees to deliver on customer and partner expectations," Dutkowsky said.

The streamlining effects of these changes manifest themselves immediately in the key areas of Product Management and Product Marketing, Sales, Consulting and Services, and Software Engineering, as the company fine-tunes its vertical market strategy.

Les Wyatt, who currently heads Corporate Marketing worldwide, now also oversees the company`s Product Management function. Lenley Hensarling, vice-president, now heads Product Management. Hensarling previously reported to Dutkowsky.

In the area of Software Engineering, headed by Michael Madden, all research and development activities are now aligned under a single operational unit, focused on delivering the company`s JD Edwards 5 offerings including Enterprise Resource Planning, Supply Chain Management and Customer Relationship Management. Ed Sitarski, vice-president - Supply Chain Management, now reports to Madden. He previously reported to Dutkowsky.

Leadership of other business units and geographic locations will remain the same.
