Ariba, Inc. and J.D. Edwards & Company today jointly announced that J.D. Edwards will use the companies` joint e-procurement solution to streamline internal operations and reduce costs. This new client agreement extends the Ariba - J.D. Edwards partnership in which J.D. Edwards integrates and resells the Ariba ORMS application as part of its E-Procurement and enterprise business software solutions.
While J.D. Edwards has run its business operations using its own network-centric financial applications for years, its procurement of operating resources - the goods and services it requires for daily operations - has been mostly paper-based with spending and processes spread across many locations and suppliers. Now, the company will use J.D. Edwards ` E-Procurement powered by Ariba, to capture all its operating resource expenditures and direct them to preferred suppliers via the services of the Ariba Network eCommerce platform. This approach will provide the company with the necessary information to gain volume discounts through lower contract pricing and streamline the purchasing process from requisition to payment.
The joint solution will enable J.D. Edwards to seamlessly integrate with its suppliers to acquire all the goods and services the company uses for its daily business operations, including a wide range of commodities including computer hardware and software, office supplies and equipment, printing, temporary services, furniture, catering and advertising services. J.D. Edwards expects to deploy the solution to its more than 5,000 employees in more than 130 locations throughout the world to order goods and services.
"By using the joint J.D. Edwards-Ariba solution in our internal operations, we are using the very same technology that we offer to our clients," said Doug Massingill, president and CEO at J.D. Edwards. "This solution will give us more control over our purchasing activities and enable us to lower our costs by taking advantage of our significant buying power."
"This new client agreement between Ariba and J.D. Edwards extends our already robust partnership," said Keith Krach, president and CEO at Ariba. "Long regarded as a leader in providing e-business solutions, by using J.D. Edwards E-Procurement powered by Ariba ORMS Release 6, now J.D. Edwards will also be a leader in the use of eCommerce as well."
