JD Group chooses dns telecom

Johannesburg, 13 Oct 2008

Dns telecom, a converged telecommunications solutions company, today announced that the JD Group had contracted it to install digital IP-enabled telephone exchanges for their PABX replacement programme across the group, which consists of some 1 100 branches. The currently installed equipment is a mixture of analogue and Telkom rented units.

“This replacement programme, which is part of an entire convergence strategy, will enable the JD Group not only to make substantial savings on their PBX equipment, but also to deploy a next generation network, culminating in a major reduction in group communication costs on all our voice traffic, regardless of whether it is GSM calls, national calls, international calls, inter-branch calls or inter-community calls,” commented Gerrie Van Niekerk of the JD Group. “We have deliberately kept our voice and data networks separate as we do not want to risk our existing IT infrastructure by handling voice traffic and thus this new project doesn't cause any interruptions to our day to day computer operations.”

“We are obviously delighted to be working with a corporate of such stature as the JD Group and have already completed the installation of over 300 branches since the project started in Q4 last year,” added Laurence Stafford, a Director and founder of dns telecom.

dns telecom

Dns telecom (originally Dial and Save) was originally established in 2004 by a group of IT and telephony professionals to intercept and exploit the opportunities created by the deregulation of the South African telecommunications industry.

The skills encompassed within dns telecom are consistent with those required as a result of the ongoing convergence of voice, video and data on the IT infrastructure of organisations. It is a BEE compliant company with Amava Holdings as a stakeholder and is a major shareholder in Songimali Communications.

Dns telecom is a customer-centric organisation that supplies best-of-breed end-to-end communication solutions to corporate South Africa specifically orientated at reducing the costs of converged communications, but without any compromise in quality or capacity. Consequently, it has agreements and partnerships with many solution providers such as BCS-Net, Electronic Communications Networks), Global WebIntact, MIA Telecoms, Telemat, Telkom SA, Transtel and Zensho Telecoms. Dns telecom has a customer base that embraces both the public and private sector and includes organisations such as Blue Financial Services, CTP Danou, Imperial Holdings and JD Group.
