JetForm unveils wireless technology to enable mobile e-Business

Johannesburg, 07 Nov 2000

JetForm unveils technology to enable mobile e-Business JetForm, a global provider of e-process solutions, locally represented by Global Technology (GBI), has unveiled a new range of mobile technology in support of e-business processes. Customers can now send and receive forms via a wireless device for the first time by making use of JetForm`s electronic form technologies for use expertise.

The first implementation of JetForm`s wireless technology will be included in its e-forms product, ReachForm, which now supports Wireless Markup Language (WML) and Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). These products address the needs of connected mobile users - those that have a remote, live connection to the , such as a cellular phone with a micro - browser.

"The enterprise demand for wireless data applications is increasing daily," says Johan van Jaarsveld, CEO, GBI. "With the advent of high-speed packet networks, data devices and most importantly compelling applications, it`s not a question of if, but when this market will take off."

The integration of wireless support into e-business models with JetForm`s technology eliminates complicated reprogramming tasks and will enable JetForm products such as ReachForm to detect and treat microbrowsers on cellular phones the same way it does Web browsers on PCs. The initiative builds on JetForm`s existing knowledge of the mobile market where organisations with a disconnected field-force, or users who need to remotely access their corporate network, have already been taking advantage of the rich intelligence offered by the company`s existing forms solution for Windows Pocket PCs, Pocket Form.

"Cellular phones are just another delivery mechanism for an increasingly mobile workforce, " adds van Jaarsveld. "JetForm`s wireless technology will help our customers integrate cellular phones and other mobile devices into their e-business models. Our work with them ensures this technology fits their business needs and offers significant value."

The combination of WML and WAP support, as well as JetForm`s electronic process and electronic document presentation capabilities, extends its ability to create comprehensive mobile e-business process solutions that reach beyond the desktop to any consumer, regardless of the device. "We see wireless technology as a significant component of our long-term strategy, we`re interested in anything that will allow us to better serve our customers. This initiative by JetForm is a tangible example of the potential of wireless technologies to change the way we do business," concludes van Jaarsveld.
