AST Technology Rentals (ATR), a division of the AST Group, has been awarded the contract to provide Jetlogistics South Africa with procurement services for three years. The procurement contract involves securing the availability of suitable technology at the lowest possible monthly rate for 36 months.
Jetlogistics, a division of the SAirGroup, owned by the 2nd largest airline caterer Gate Gourmet. Jetlogistics provides their customers with a high reliable and seamless service combined with significant savings through superior applications technology and global logistics expertise in the supply chain management of in-flight service equipment & products. Jetlogistics SA uses sub-contractors for warehousing and freight forwarding and focus on their core competence; in-flight logistics for airlines, today providing services for 8 different airlines on 4 continents.
"We were looking for a way to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership and to remove capital purchases off the balance sheet, wherever it makes sense. ATR showed the right flexibility in offering, even a small company like Jetlogistics SA, a lease contract with purchase options after 6 months and after 3 years" explains Torben Noerregaard, MD of Jetlogistics South Africa. "In addition, with technology evolving at such a rapid rate renting the IT infrastructure was the only way to go, with a flexible option to step out."
