Rectron, one of SA`s fastest growing distributors of computer components, PCs and peripheral products, has secured the distribution rights to Intel`s range of CPU and motherboard offerings. The company will also equip a sizable percentage of its locally assembled and branded PCs with Intel products.
"This will have a significant impact on the local market," says Rectron CEO Mark Lu, who expects job creation to be among the first spin-offs for the industry.
Rectron commands a 7 000-strong channel reseller base in SA. Many of these companies will qualify as authorised Intel resellers and those with the necessary skills will gain Intel Product Integrator (IPI) status, according to Lu.
"Having formalised our relationship with Intel, we expect to more than double the number of authorised Intel resellers and IPIs in SA by year-end," he says.
"As product integrators require suitable skills, the result will be an increase in training activity and additional job creation."
