US-based Juniper Networks officially opened its sales offices in Johannesburg on Friday.
The new operation will sell and support the company`s portfolio of networking and security solutions, providing customers with secure and assured communications over a single Internet Protocol network, says Juniper EMEA operations VP Eddie Minshull.
The local branch will include both sales and technical support staff, who will assist local partners in providing pre- and post-sales support, adds Minshull.
"As SA`s economy continues to grow, so too does the demand for efficient public network infrastructure and reliable communications services. We look forward to working with local partners to provide our service provider and enterprise customers in the region with secure networking solutions."
Minshull believes the increased competition will have a positive effect on local communications costs.
"We see broadband costs here are very high. In Europe, competition has made prices drop, and we would like to do that here. We believe we can bring healthy competition to the local market."
