Juniper to secure Samsung devices
security and device management tools is coming to three Samsung Electronics devices, marking the first time the company has provided its SSL VPN software for Google's Android OS, PCWorld writes.
Juniper is making its Junos Pulse and Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite software available for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Note tablets, as well as the Galaxy SII smartphone, the companies said on Monday.
“Our partnership with a major mobile device manufacturer, such as Samsung, enables us to jointly deliver on critical and innovative functionality, enabling the highest value for our joint customers,” The Fone Cast quotes Sanjay Beri, VP and GM of the Junos Pulse Business Unit at Juniper Networks, as saying.
“Juniper and Samsung are committed to a partnership wherein the two companies will continue to deliver secure, business-ready solutions, enhancing security posture for enterprises and enabling new, differentiated offerings for service providers.”
According to The Next Web, Samsung's announcement may not appeal to the general consumer, but for IT departments that have been slow to exploit the openness of the Android platform, the news might increase the adoption of Samsung smartphones and tablets in the enterprise.
Juniper's Junos Pulse will allow Samsung users to connect via a Layer 3 SSL VPN connection to any network accessible device, with its Pulse Mobile Security Suite automatically removing malicious applications and providing administrators with the ability to remove potentially damaging applications without approval from the user.
