Juniper's mobile networking push

Juniper Networks is making its push into the mobile networking space with a host of new offerings being rolled out at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, reports eWeek.

The products are built on Juniper's 'Project Falcon', which company officials first talked about in October as a way of addressing mobile device traffic across networks.

The software, which addresses such areas as the delivery of video on mobile devices, security, and traffic management, is designed to give mobile service providers more tools to handle the growing and changing user demands.

Vodafone, Verizon form M2M alliance

Vodafone, Verizon Wireless, and nPhase have formed a strategic alliance to accelerate the global adoption of machine-to-machine (M2M) deployments, writes SmartMeters.

The goal of the alliance is to simplify the remote management and monitoring of devices spread across both GSM networks in Europe and CDMA and GSM networks in the US.

M2M technology is pivotal to utilities deploying smart meters by enabling power companies to efficiently collect meter and provide two-way communication and tailored offers for their customers.

Transition Systems named Motorola distributor

Motorola has signed on Transition Systems as its wireless networking products distributor, states ARNnet.

Transition Systems was founded in South-East Asia in 1999 with a strong focus on the networking and space. It entered the Australian market 12 months ago after buying unified communications vendor Polycom's rights from Unitel.

In line with its networking lineage, the distributor approached Motorola to form an alliance with the vendor's Wireless Networking Solution Division. The new portfolio will include WLAN, point-to-point networks and voice over WLAN solutions.
