Karen Schmikl, Liquid Business Manager at VIP Payroll, will speak at the upcoming South African Payroll Association (SAPA) conference that is taking place on 4-5 August in Cape Town, at the Spier Wine Estate, in Stellenbosch, and 17-18 August in Johannesburg, at Montecasino.
The debate about whether payroll should be administered in-house or outsourced has been raging for years, says Schmikl. “With technological development keeping us all on our toes, the debate may just have morphed into an entire different subject that weighs the pros and cons between online and on-premise payroll systems.” The topic is one of the discussions that will be taking place at the SAPA conference.
Schmikl believes data security and confidentiality is of prime concern to any payroll user. “The anxiety associated with having to trust your company's most intimate information online is quite understandable, and is integral to the debate. Our society and the way we do business are, however, changing at a rapid pace and it is to a degree dictating and demanding a change in how we do business. The 'mobile' lifestyle is becoming a standard of operation, and so too business processes are being moulded to fit that change.”
The annual SAPA conference is an opportunity for leaders in the payroll industry to share their thoughts and view on the industry. This year's conference is aptly themed 'South Africa: Leaders in Payroll' and promises to be a melting pot of cutting-edge payroll discussions.
