Kaspersky intros security for virtual machines

There's more to virtualisation than simply moving a system image from a physical PC onto a virtual machine, iTWire says.

McAfee and Citrix realised this a couple of years ago when they released MOVE AV, a system that puts a small agent program on a virtual desktop that calls on the main security software running on a separate VM.

Now Kaspersky Lab has announced Kaspersky Security for Virtualisation (KSV), security software that integrates with VMware vShield Endpoint Security to protect all the virtual machines on a network with central management.

KSV provides companies with a virtual security appliance that integrates with VMware vShield Endpoint to provide an agent-less anti-malware security, which is based on Kaspersky Lab's advanced anti-malware engine, MalaysiaHardwareZone.com reports.

When deployed, KSV provides automatic and up-to-date protection to all virtual machines. KSV is managed using the Kaspersky Security Centre, which provides a consistent way for IT security professionals to manage and express security policies across both physical and virtual environments.
