Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces it has entered IDC's Top 100 of Worldwide Packaged Software Vendors.
The rating "Worldwide Packaged Software Revenue by Top 100 Vendors" was published by IDC in its "Worldwide Software 2009-2013 Forecast Summary" after a study of packaged software revenue in 2008, and the proportional market share of vendors. Kaspersky Lab is the only Russian company in the list.
The IDC study analysed revenue earned by software vendors from sales of packaged software throughout the period 2006-2008, and examined how the revenue for 2008 changed compared to the previous year. Kaspersky Lab demonstrated the best annual growth rate - over 121% - outstripping the nearest competitor by almost 47% and growing 17 times faster than the average vendor.
According to IDC terminology, packaged software is ready-to-use software available via retail, lease or another service, regardless of its physical medium, and is distinguished from customised and preinstalled software.
Kaspersky Lab has also made it into the IDC's top 50 rating for "Worldwide System Infrastructure Software Revenue". This rating ranks the major manufacturers of system infrastructure software according to their revenue in 2008. Kaspersky Lab demonstrated the second largest annual growth in this list with a revenue growth rate that was almost 18 times greater than the average.
The IDC studies analysed information on more than 1 000 major global software manufacturers.
