Kathea launches Professional Services unit into local marketplace

Johannesburg, 11 Sept 2004

Kathea Communications, a dynamic supplier and value-added distributor of products and services for the telecommunications sector, has launched its Professional Services division. This division, head-up by Clint Cronje, consists of voice and video bridging solutions to cater for the ever-increasing communication requirements of all size businesses, operating within the local landscape.

This facility was launched as a result of the company`s decision to further improve its service offering and provide the business community with flexible, cost effective and reliable bureau and bridging amenities, utilising [Lp1]Polycom products.

"In the ever-increasing competitive environment in which companies operate today, instant and reliable communication mechanisms are becoming more and more pertinent," says Clint Cronje, sales manager at Kathea Professional Services.

Recent research conducted by the IDC has shown that within the coming years, virtual communication will reduce total travel costs of organisations by 20 percent, with 54 percent of corporate executives believing that electronic meetings will reduce the reliance on business travel.

Cronje adds; "These research statistics, coupled with today`s technological communication advancements, has meant that organisations are now requiring enhanced communication needs to ensure faster decision-making, higher productivity and the deployment of new technologies to reduce traveling costs. Therefore, these businesses need to partner with communication service providers that offer holistic, cost effective bridging solutions through world class equipment and expertise."

Kathea Professional Services offer companies this exact service through its two fully equipped boardrooms situated in Rivonia, Johannesburg. Companies will have access to global connectivity via audio and video technology. Cronje continues; "Kathea`s conferencing facilities are built on a comprehensive platform of Polycom technology that is able to provide point-to-point and multi-point bridging weather it be voice or video.

"Our real challenge is to get people to understand what conferencing really is," Cronje said. "It`s the ability to meet multiple people in multiple sites at the same time regardless of them using the telephone, a video conferencing end-point or the Web".

He added that there is still a significant portion of the market that uses no conferencing services at all.

"This is going to be a slow but steady growth, like the telephone was," Cronje says. "Therefore, there needs to be a ramp-up time for people to understand that they don`t need to spend thousands of rand to fly to Cape Town just to hold a meeting."

"Some of the key benefits to choosing Kathea, as a preferred communications partner of choice is our ongoing expertise and support, simple booking procedures, pre-conference site testing and registration and most importantly upfront calculated costs. At Kathea, we believe in developing sound and valuable partnerships with all our customers and as such we strive to provide the most reliable, efficient and cost effective communication facilities locally," concludes Cronje.
