K'e Concepts has launched its first self-developed product, a credit evaluation, control and management application called 'e-Credit.
"'e-Credit spans the entire lifecycle of the credit supply chain, from sourcing and approval to debtor management and back-end integration," says company director Miles Hern.
The system runs on SQL server on Windows NT or 2000, with the client supporting Windows 95, 98, NT and 2000.
K'e Concepts is unashamedly a Microsoft shop.
"In certain areas Microsoft might fall short, but they have the money behind them to catch up easily," says chief financial officer Gary Green. "We take the long-term view that they will be around for quite a while. And if you look at their recent products, they are competing with some of the leaders out there."
The software complies with the Microsoft DNA architecture and was developed in a mixture of Visual Basic and C++. Microsoft`s BizTalk has also been embedded into the client.
"A Web client has been under development for just under a month and should be available in little more than a month," says Hern.
The 'e-Credit has also been embedded into the Microsoft Digital Dashboard, allowing scheduled data extraction and easily adaptable views of the data.
Green says the product targets banks, asset-based finance and office automation companies and the micro lending industry, which has around 12 000 lenders nationally.
Two purchase methods are available, a normal licensing system at a base of R300 000 and as a rental at R12 000 to R20 000 per month, says Green.
K'e Concepts was incorporated after a 1997 merger of the Dodge Group, which had a client base using a financial data warehouse in SA, and Flexi International. Green says the staff left in the lurch after Dodge effectively withdrew its presence from the country banded together to form K'e.
The company is a reseller of Epicor enterprise resource management products and is the sole local distributor of SharpOWL professional services automation software, previously known as Tempo.
