SecureData Security, a division of JSE-listed SecureData Holdings, has launched a managed security services solution called Security Optimisation Services to help its customers ensure their security systems and security infrastructure are always running at peak performance.
The SecureData SoS security service sees SecureData become an integral part of the client's security team and take responsibility for providing 24x7 proactive administration across the client's security services, applications and infrastructure. SecureData is also able to provide emergency SoS operational services on an ad hoc basis.
Says Wayne Biehn, product and technology director at SecureData: "By opting for the SecureData SOS service, companies can leave their security in the hands of the experts, concentrate on their core business and minimise the total cost of information security. The SecureData SOS service provides proactive monitoring of the client's technology environment to ensure fast and efficient resolution of conditions which may cause outages, failures, security events or other issues."
SecureData Security Optimisation Services span the following service touch points:
* Incident ownership
* Problem management
* Change management
* Device configuration management
* Release management
* Trend reporting
* Root cause analysis
* Patch management
* Performance tuning
* Vulnerability assessment
* Backup and recovery management
"By subscribing to SoS, organisations not only leverage the breadth and depth of our professional resources, but they add additional resource capability and assurance levels to ensure their security is optimised on an ongoing basis," says Biehn. "We use our experience and expertise in security to help our clients to better align their security investments with their business objectives."
SoS is tailored for each client's environment on a product-by-product, service-by-service and/or holistic approach. The services lower the exposure profiles of both network devices and endpoints in the client's environment. SecureData's service practitioners review network device configurations (eg, routers, switches, firewalls, IPSs, etc) that the devices are configured with the optimal settings to mitigate risk.
The service also helps clients to create proactive risk management processes that improve strategic decision-making, resulting in fewer surprises and improved governance. SoS is designed to create a Living Security platform that allows companies to continually optimise security investments.
"The ultimate objective of a successful security programme is to minimise the total cost of security for an organisation while providing adequate protection for valuable information, intellectual property, systems, and people," says Biehn. "The SoS service helps our clients to balance the costs of security prevention with the potential costs of security attacks or incident so that they can maximise their return on investment in the security environment."
