ICT law firm Lisa Thornton Inc is creating a database to help IT and telecoms companies find reputable black economic empowerment (BEE) partners.
"Our company represents IT and telecommunications companies, and as a result of the ICT empowerment charter and certain ICASA regulations, many of our clients have approached us to help them find BEE partners," says Lisa Thornton.
"We have also had BEE clients, unsolicited companies and individuals contact us, asking whether we know of any IT or communications companies that are looking for BEE partners."
As a result, the firm has decided to create a free database where ICT companies and BEE partners can list themselves.
She says the database will be set up with the aim of helping clients, potential clients and the industry to find compatible BEE partners, as well as to ensure the success of BEE in the industry.
The database is available on request from the company. Other avenues of distribution may be considered over time. Those who would like to be included in the database can send their details to info@thornton.co.za.
