Kemtek exhibits largest production line-up ever at Print Expo 2007

Print Expo 07, 13-16 March, Johannesburg, Hall 7 Stand C12
Johannesburg, 24 Nov 2006

At Print Expo 2007, Kemtek Imaging Systems will show a total multi-print JDF-enabled production environment featuring the latest prepress, digital and offset print and finishing technology.

This will be the largest and most complete production line-up ever shown by any supplier to date at any show in South Africa and underlines Kemtek's commitment to, and strength in, the African market.

"This is a major investment for Kemtek. Not everyone can travel to international shows overseas and we believe we have a responsibility to support our local industry by giving as many people from as many companies nationwide as possible the opportunity to see the future of print technology in action," says Gavin van Rensberg, CEO of Kemtek.

On stand C12 in Hall 7, Kemtek will show a variety of B3 and B2 full-colour jobs in full production in a series of live demonstrations. Files will be managed by the Screen Trueflow JDF-enabled workflow delivering print ready, colour managed, PDFs to a networked HP Indigo 5000 digital press, the Screen Truepress 344 DI offset press and Screen's B2 PlateRite 4300S thermal CTP device imaging Agfa Azura plates for the very latest Komori Lithrone 29 B2 press, launched at Ipex 06. Visitors will be able to witness the benefits of each and how they can be integrated easily and profitably in to any print business for print runs from five to 50 000.

The HP Indigo 5000 press is ideal for mono and full colour B3 print runs from a single copy or proof up to 1000+. It is also ideally suited to colour personalisation and can be easily integrated with a number of third-party value-add packages. New enhancements to the press further advances HP Indigo's outstanding performance for producing high quality output at increased volumes. The press now offers dramatically increased speed with reduced monochrome printing costs, greater machine ease of use, a range of quality colour and stacking enhancements, and a new optional stacker that delivers greater productivity. The HP Indigo press 5000 can achieve 100% faster print speeds for monochrome (1/0) printing, with up to 16 000 impressions per hour or 272 pages per minute. This delivers improved cost and time-efficiencies when printing one and two colour jobs on the colour press, as well as jobs combining black and white pages with full colour pages.

The Screen Truepress 344 is designed as a production machine ideally suited for today's commercial print requirements for runs from 100 to 5 000+ and provides a high return on investment very quickly. With a maximum printing speed of 7 000 A3+ sheets per hour, the four-colour Truepress 344 press produces a 500-sheet single-sided job from start to finish in less than 15 minutes (size range: 9 x 14cm to 34 x 47cm).

An ultra-fast make-ready time of only five minutes is achieved by using a unique combination of the latest high-speed 830nm MALD (multi array laser diode) imaging with a new processless plate technology from Konica Minolta. The Truepress 344 also incorporates an inline scanning densitometer which measures colour density, dot percent and ink/water balance. This reduces the need for highly skilled press operators but still ensures consistently high quality results are achieved. Screen's class leading SPEKTA 2 FM/AM Hybrid screening is also supported.

The offset package on show will feature the Screen B2 PlateRite 4300S delivering punched, plates at a rate of 21 per hour to the five-colour Komori LS29 press, ideal for commercial printers producing quality work for runs from 1000+.

Komori's latest five-colour LS29 with its ultra-fast make-ready features the highest level of automation Komori has ever offered to the B2 market, including a completely new, fully-automatic, plate changing system as standard. The press boasts the fastest changeover ever: high-speed, six-minute changeover from one job to the next.

To illustrate the high level of automation and quality provided by the Komori press, Kemtek will demonstrate how CIP3 data delivered by the Screen Trueflow workflow automatically controls ink key settings on the press to ensure jobs achieve accurate quality at speed.

Finally, a range of finishing equipment will also be on show completing Kemtek's total solutions approach to print production.

"Kemtek has grown into the country's leading supplier of expert print technology," continues Gavin. We have invested heavily in our service and support structures and are now reaping the benefits. "Since we took on distribution of Komori presses in early 2005, we have brought 19 presses into South Africa and surrounding export territories which we service with great success. Screen CTP devices now occupy a third of the CTP market as a whole in South Africa. We are by far the market leaders in high-end digital print solutions with over 75% market share. Our aim is to provide our customers with a choice of the very best production equipment for a variety of applications to suit their business - backed up by the best service and support."
