Kenya ICT Board's Paul Kukubo to speak at Cloud Computing Forum Africa 2012

Johannesburg, 23 Mar 2012

The Kenya ICT Board chief executive Paul Kukubo is among industry leaders set to make keynote speeches at the forthcoming Cloud Computing World Forum, to be held in South Africa on 8 May at the Sandton Sun Hotel, in Johannesburg.

The Cloud Computing World Forum Africa offers delegates an opportunity to discuss the latest topics in cloud services, including security, mobile, applications, communications, virtualisation and CRM among others.

Kukubo will speak on the topic: 'Cloud Computing in the Public Sector', covering issues including whether cloud computing is too much of a risk for the public sector, the benefits of public sector clouds for both vendors and end-users, and cloud pressure - matching IT security with cost-effectiveness.

The conference comes at a time when cloud computing is being predicted to revolutionise the African IT industry and lead to significant cost savings for users, but as happens with any new technology, there are already concerns about data security, especially sensitive data - something the agenda will address.

“Our agenda has been carefully put together with the aim of providing attendees with the latest issues and developments with this growing technology. The free-to-attend workshop and exhibition will help attendees discuss with global exhibitors how cloud computing can be implemented into their operations,” said Mark Johnstone, director of Keynote, the organiser of the forum.

Other speakers include:

* Yolisa Skwintshi, Head of IT Development, First National Bank (FNB)
* Malcolm Laing, Group Chief Information Officer, Investec Specialist Bank and Asset Manager
* Dr Phil Mjwara, Director General Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Republic of South Africa
