Business intelligence specialist Knowledge Integration Dynamics (KID) has developed and launched a data warehouse architecture and design training course. The course, run over two days, is aimed at broadening and deepening the knowledge base among the rapidly growing data warehouse user base in South Africa.
"The last 18 months have seen a dramatic upsurge in the number of companies deploying data warehouses," says Aubrey van Aswegen," MD of KID. "This is partly because companies have come to understand that their data is their lifeblood as it reflects the customer experience, and they need to maximise its value. ERP and CRM customers and e-businesses, in particular, have been enthusiastic adopters of data warehousing over the last year.
"However," adds van Aswegen, "the skills levels in the market have not kept pace with demand for new systems, which is why we have developed this training course."
The first two training courses were presented in Gauteng late last year and both were sold out. KID aims to run the training course monthly, or more frequently, as demand dictates.
Focusing on the architecture and design principles of the data warehouse, the purpose of the course is to teach the methodology of creating a business intelligence solution that is prescribed by leading data warehouse experts.
The course also looks at processes, certain technologies and techniques, as well as dimensional modelling used to deliver an effective data warehouse. Content has been created drawing on KID`s more than three decades` collective practical experience in the business intelligence market. It embraces:

"This course is ideal for anyone involved in the business intelligence decision-making and implementation cycle," adds Van Aswegen. "This includes business system analysts, IT managers, business intelligence architects, consultants and project leaders, database managers, and data warehouse analyst programmers."
