Kinetic Distribution links up to SAVANT for greater opportunity

Johannesburg, 27 Oct 2003

Durban-based distributor Kinetic Distribution, a provider of products to the raster technology and technical data environments, plans to make use of its membership to the SAVANT international brand awareness and exposure campaign to increase the chances of building global partnerships, especially on an export and import level.

Kinetic Distribution signed on as a member of SAVANT in September and is gradually building on the opportunity to increase international market presence through networking opportunities.

"We came across the SAVANT online portal and noticed several competitors listed on the database. The company's view was that the affiliation is an opportunity to expand the business as far as trade was concerned, while at the same time valuable partnerships in Africa and overseas could be formed," comments Samantha Seymour, Kinetic Distribution Director.

The company targets a broad spectrum of industries and is a focused distributor of products that are renowned for expertise in the technical data environment. The two software product ranges currently offered by Kinetic Distribution include: Consistent Software on the raster technology side, with Practical Programs covering the Document Management and Workflow arena.

Kinetic Distribution recently added a range of large format (A0) colour scanners, from the stable of Graphtec Corporation, to its product portfolio to enhance the solutions that its channel is able to provide to the local market.

One of the main goals that drive the company is the need to authorise more value-added dealers in SA and neighbouring African countries - hence the focus on partnerships and trade links through SAVANT.

"The SAVANT initiative represents the most comprehensive effort to date to generate global awareness around local product, service and innovation. The more we do to encourage further trade with national and international partners, the better. The domestic market is growing and there is a need to reinforce trade links between our dealers and clients in other parts of the world. We feel SAVANT is the best vehicle to help us achieve our objectives going forward. We are excited about the developments thus far, as well as the steps government and industry are taking to ensure SA makes its mark on the international information and communications technology and electronics scene," adds Seymour.

SAVANT is keen to attract more participation from local businesses and have set up a page on the Web site dedicated to exposing trade and investment opportunities and encouraging proactive networking between members and global companies.

"We are pleased to welcome Kinetic Distribution on board and we look forward to the role the company will play in helping to get the South African brand name, skills and innovation out there. A company like Kinetic Distribution typifies the level of applied innovation SAVANT would like to portray internationally and this is a real opportunity for both parties," says Sar'e Grobler, project manager: ICT and Electronics division, Trade and Investment South Africa, the dti.
