AXiZ, the official distributor of Kingston memory, has announced that Kingston`s Rambus Memory Modules (RIMM) have successfully passed Intel Corporation`s Validation Test. Kingston is first in the memory enhancement industry with validated, production-level RIMM modules, ranging in size from 64MB to 256MB, that support the PC600, PC700 and PC800 RDRAM memory specifications.
"Kingston Technology has been working with Intel and Rambus since March 1998 to ensure that leading semiconductor manufacturers, PC Original Equipment Manufacturers, (OEMs), the distribution channel, and corporate customers can depend on Kingston for premium quality Rambus memory modules.," says Gavin Troxler, memory product manager at AXiZ. "Kingston has already shipped over 7,000 RIMM modules to leading OEMs to date and has manufacturing capability in place to sharply ramp up production to match Intel`s 1999 PC platform introductions. Kingston plans to work closely with Intel to ensure RIMM modules reach competitive costs compared with DIMM modules in volume production."
To support OEM, corporate, channel and other customers, Kingston has increased its manufacturing capacity to assemble over 2.6 million RIMM modules per month at its California, USA; Dublin, Ireland; and Hsinchu, Taiwan manufacturing centers. Kingston has also set up high-end Hewlett-Packard and Advantest testers to test over 600,000 RIMM modules at-speed, per month, at 600-, 700- and 800-Mega Transfers per second (MT/s). This comprehensive interface and core-testing capacity can be easily expanded to meet increasing production requirements in the third and fourth quarters of 1999.
Further information on Kingston validated RIMM modules and on its global manufacturing centres can be obtained on the Kingston Technology website: www.kingston.com/rambus Preliminary RIMM and Continuity RIMM module data sheets can be found at www.kingston.com/rambus/datasheets
