KnowHouse appointed Celemi solution provider

Johannesburg, 25 Nov 1999

World-class learning platforms for competitiveness in the knowledge economy are now available in South Africa. KnowHouse, a company that assists organisations in managing their intangible , has been made the solution provider for Swedish business improvement consultancy, Celemi.

"The importance for the South African market is that there are now learning methodologies available which allow the rapid acquisition of business skills as opposed to just book knowledge about business," says James van der Westhuizen, MD of Gauteng-based KnowHouse.

Celemi, whose international headquarters are in Malm, Sweden, creates learning processes which help companies leverage the power of learning, support large-scale change and improve business performance.

Celemi`s learning tools enable people, especially in large numbers, to quickly understand the changing needs of their business and react accordingly.

Van der Westhuizen says these methodologies have the ability to fast track both managers from previously disadvantaged communities into an intuitive understanding of the dynamics of business, and established management teams who need to unlearn outdated skills sets and learn the rules of the new economy.

"This implies expertise in the management of intangible assets to develop shareholder value."

Van der Westhuizen maintains that KnowHouse now has a coherent set of intervention tools. "These tools can take an entire organisation from ignorance of the change in the macro economy, to an of the dynamics of knowledge-based business, through to generating strategies for competitiveness and measuring the value of intangible assets."

KnowHouse, he points out, has been made the solution provider with a specific focus on tools aimed at service and knowledge-based companies. These tools are development platforms that have been designed for the new economy.

He says the following companies have already made use of these platforms from KnowHouse to ensure their people are fully equipped to deal with the challenges of the emerging knowledge economy: Microsoft SA, BSW , Ariel Technologies, Software Futures, Ixchange, FNB, Sappi and MTN.

Van der Westhuizen also says the entire KnowHouse tool set is completely and internally consistent as it is based on the world leading thinking of Karl Sveiby, the pioneer of knowledge management. "As the Celemi solution provider and a global associate of Sveiby, KnowHouse has access to a global network of knowledge management practitioners engaged in transformation programs at major international companies," he adds.

Celemi, which has been named one of Europe`s fastest growing companies, was founded in 1985 by Margareta Barchan, the company`s current CEO and president. The company has offices throughout Europe, in the US, and in New Zealand. It serves clients in more than 20 other countries around the world.
