Konica Minolta Printing Solutions Europe (KMPSE) BV has announced plans to develop its standing in the local marketplace via an official product launch, and the extension of its local partner network with the appointment of TVR Computers and Workgroup as distributors in addition to Minolco and ITEC.
Says company channel manager: Africa and Israel, Ian Revell: "KMPSE has been operating on the periphery of the South African market for several years, under names including Minolta, Minolta QMS and Konica. It`s time to take the next step by officially entering the local marketplace. This consolidation of the brand means that KMPSE has recognised the need to invest in the region as well as support it."
KMPSE has appointed a third party maintenance company, Geneva Printotek, improved coverage of the market by signing up with Internet sales company, Digital Planet, and increased the number of local distributors.

Minolco and ITEC, although primarily copier companies, have many years` experience selling laser printers.
"KMPSE has opted for a multiple distribution model in order to gain wider coverage of the IT market, including dealer and retail channels," says Revell. "This type of focused IT based distribution will provide an increased number of outlets to support local end-users.
"We see the way forward in SA as expanding and growing together with our channel partners to provide the highest levels of customer satisfaction," he adds.
Though famous in the camera and film business, Konica Minolta`s main revenue comes from copiers and printers, and it will expand business in these areas in the SA market, says Kanji Wada, MD of Konica Minolta Printing Solutions Europe.
Kanji Wada, Managing Director of Konica Minolta Printing Solutions in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, recently visited South Africa to talk to the local market about the company`s plans moving forward in South Africa. Wada is responsible for driving business strategy and operations within the EMEA region and began his career in 1981 at the R&D centre of Minolta Camera as electronics engineer for copier development.
