Bidvest company Konica Minolta South Africa has for the fifth consecutive year won the international Konica Minolta Distributor of the Year award, thereby outperforming more economically developed countries.
The annual award is presented by Konica Minolta Business Technologies Japan and is based on total number of unit sales in addition to the size of the territories involved.
“The award recognises a company's performance by measuring market share per country and we believe that our success in the South African market is owing to our distinct focus on developing the bizhub brand locally. That is, instead of placing our efforts on individual product advertising, we have built the bizhub brand to the point where it is now a household name in our country - a distinct differentiator from other Konica Minolta distributors,” says Konica Minolta South Africa MD Alan Griffith, who accepted the award with business unit manager, Marianna Gdanis, in Kyoto.
According to Griffith, the award is especially encouraging for Konica Minolta South Africa as it illustrates great accomplishment in the midst of a severe economic downturn. “Our employees are extremely proud and justifiably even more motivated to continue this performance going forward. We would also like to think that this award gives current and new clients even greater security in the knowledge that they are dealing with the best supplier in the market. Of course, winning the award in 2010 - a year when all that is South Africa is broadcast globally - makes this award a further proudly South African achievement for all our country's citizens,” says Griffith.
