Konica Minolta South Africa takes top honours in InfoSource South African survey

Johannesburg, 10 Jun 2008

Bidvest company, Konica Minolta South Africa, has triumphed in the recently released survey undertaken by market data specialist, InfoSource, named as the number one South African supplier within the production segment, as well as the leading local supplier of digital colour copier-based multifunctional printers (MFPs).

According to Marianna Gdanis, colour division manager of Konica Minolta South Africa, the production segment, which encompasses both B&W and colour devices, is one of Konica Minolta's most important business units.

"Konica Minolta South Africa showed an incredible growth of 143.6% in 2007 within this sector. We are now proudly the number one supplier of equipment in this segment with 41.4% of the market. Konica Minolta South Africa is also number one in B&W production with 43.6% and within colour production with 32.6% of the South African market," she explains.

"This is a remarkable achievement; especially considering Konica Minolta South Africa only entered this market three years ago."

The report is split into personal, office and production copiers. Gdanis explains: "Taking into account that Konica Minolta South Africa does not operate within the personal copier market, we are most pleased to announce that we now have a strong 17.7% share of the overall market."

Konica Minolta South Africa has increased its share of the total B&W office market to 17%, a 15.7% growth on the previous year. The market is then broken into the following speed segments:

* Segment 1 is 0-19ppm: Konica Minolta South Africa has 10.1%;
* Segment 2 is 20-39ppm: Konica Minolta South Africa is first with 22.7%;
* Segment 3 is 40-59ppm: Konica Minolta South Africa has 16.8%; and
* Segment 4 is 60-89ppm: Konica Minolta South Africa is first with 54.8%.

"Konica Minolta South Africa once again attained the position of number one supplier of digital colour copier-based MFPs in South Africa, having held this strong position since 2000. We have increased unit sales from 2006 to 2007 by 39.5% and are the leading supplier in this space with 37.3% market share."

Konica Minolta South Africa only supplies the bizhub range of products within the following office colour segments: * Segment 3 is 20-29ppm: Konica Minolta South Africa is in top position with 37.4%; and

* Segment 4 is 30-49ppm: Konica Minolta South Africa is also first here with 37.5%.

"To enjoy this type of positive feedback through InfoSource about the local market can only incite Konica Minolta South Africa to strive for even greater things for 2008," Gdanis concludes.
