SEK 2006 (the 20th Solutions and Contents Exhibition of Korea) runs from Wednesday to Friday this week in Seoul, Korea. More than 100 000 visitors are expected at the exhibition over the three days.

The conference`s main aim is to present new technologies to business people and consumers, as the official Web site notes: "SEK 2006 is a 'test bed` for new products and technologies because of the many early adopters, researchers and developers visiting the event."

It is organised by The Electronic Times and hosted by the Korean Ministries of Science and Technology; Information and Communication; and Commerce, Industry and Energy.

Divided into the areas of home appliances, telecoms technologies, computer hardware and , and digital broadcasting, the exhibition area covers 21 000 square metres with 1 100 booths.

Beginning in 1987 with 26 exhibitors and about 100 booths, SEK has become an annual event, and one of the premier IT conferences on the industry`s global calendar.

Korea ranks seventh in the world in terms of technology innovation capabilities, according to a recent report prepared by the US-based RAND research institute for the National Intelligence Committee.

ITWeb will be at the event, along with other ICT news services from around the world.
