KPMG Consulting has today signed an alliance with Gemcom to position both parties to deliver an integrated business information solution and professional services to clients in the mining sector. Due to the synergy between the core strengths of each party, they will be in a stronger position than had they acted independently.
This long-awaited integrated solution will utilise Gemcom`s middleware product, namely ProdTrack, to interface reconciled and validated data that originated from mining specialist - and production control systems into the mySAP Mining Solution that acts as the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

The SAP Mining Solution is a pre-configured industry solution developed by SAP, with the collaboration of highly skilled international implementation partners and clients, thereby entrenching the best business practices approach in mining. The mining solution not only focus on the core business processes of the value chain, namely acquire and development, mining and primary processing, secondary processing, and sales and distribution, but also on the support processes such as enterprise management, customer relationship management, business support (including, HR, procurement, treasury, fixed asset management and environmental, health and safety). This enables a wall-to-wall ERP system for the mining industry.
The success of ProcTrack, developed in Australia in 1992, is evident as an established solution broadly in use across resources sectors including exploration, mining and processing environments in diverse businesses. ProdTrak is a fully configurable product and utilises the latest Microsoft technologies to deliver a comprehensive set of modules that can be universally supported across the globe. Additionally, the use of Microsoft XML makes the process very generic and could easily be adapted to other ERP or in-house systems.
