KPMG Consulting has boosted its ability to provide its clients with pre-built business solutions with the installation of a comprehensive suite of software from e-business intelligence (eBI) vendor Business Objects in its Internet Innovation Centre.
The Business Objects installation is expected to significantly increase KPMG`s capacity to develop and package solutions for its clients in the centre.
"We see more and more of our customers taking a strategic approach to BI," said Business Objects` country manager for SA, Gary Lawrence.
"Our products provide the tools to access, analyse and share information across multiple data sources, both inside and outside the enterprise. BI is becoming a competitive differentiator as customers reap the benefits of providing anytime, anywhere access to information to both employees and partners. It`s all about having the means to make meaningful decisions timeously."
Hubert Wentzel, director of systems integration and data warehousing at KPMG, says business users are demanding more value from their corporate information to stay ahead of the game. "Our channel partners deliver this value through excellent technology and services, helping companies deploy BI strategically and quickly.
"Business Objects is no exception and we have found that we can successfully approach our clients with large-scale integration projects around the product offering, and more importantly, provide our clients with pre-built business solutions," said Wentzel.
Analytic applications offer pre-built solutions to complex business problems, and deliver optimum values to business users. "Here Business Objects` integration with various Multidimensional OLAP applications is essential, as Business Objects provides the semantic layer making the interface complexity transparent to the end-user while the true analytical server excels at what it is good at," says Wentzel.
The software also allows for integration with InfoView Mobile, Business Objects software that enables mobile workers to access, analyse and share key corporate information, anytime, anywhere from cellular phones and personal digital assistant (PDA) devices.
"Allowing mobile workers to view information in several formats streamlines operations, reduces costs, increases revenues and improves customer satisfaction," said Lawrence. "This is an area that is fast gaining momentum and we believe this will give KPMG a prominent role to play with mobile workers.
"We are very excited about the relationship with KPMG," says Lawrence. "They will play a significant role in ensuring that our customers adopt a more strategic approach to BI thereby ensuring that the significant beneficial value of BI is achieved."
