Local converged network provider and Cisco partner, KSS Technologies, has endorsed its commitment to building technical and professional Cisco skills through Cisco's Global Talent Acceleration Programme (GTAP).
This programme is part of Cisco's strategy to accelerate business development and growth opportunities for its channel partners in emerging markets, where technical resources are scarce. GTAP trains associates and experienced professionals as network consulting engineers, project managers, customer support engineers, system engineers, and account managers.
KSS Technologies Technical Services Manager, Johan Van Zyl, says KSS is committed to Cisco's Talent Acceleration Programme and to building Cisco skills in southern Africa. “We employ these candidates on a 12-month contract and their performance is constantly monitored by Cisco as well as ourselves.
“KSS interviewed 20 potential candidates and earmarked two candidates for the GTAP. David Mashego is doing the Network Consulting Engineer/Unified Communications certification and Nkateko Silaule is doing a Network Consulting Engineer/Data Centre Network course,” he says.
GTAP is a three-step process - recruit, train, and enable graduates to work in Cisco and Cisco ecosystem partner service delivery organisations. This talent development model has proven itself effective time and time again, as GTAP continues to deliver the highest quality of talent back to the business.
This learning environment accelerates not only their ability to achieve various Cisco certification levels, but also sharpens their professional skills and tests their knowledge absorption through a series of Technical Review Panels.
“Furthermore, regular performance reviews are held with these candidates to monitor their progress on the programme. After this contract period, we would like to employ them on a permanent basis,” concludes Van Zyl.
