Telstra revamps spending
Australia's largest telco is finally offloading its 51% stake in Chinese property website SouFun, and has unveiled plans to spend up to $1 billion on a "transition" it said was necessary to ensure its long-term profitability, states Znet.
"Today the greatest asset that Telstra has is our customer base, and we have been losing too many customers," Telstra chief executive David Thodey said.
Moves to improve customer service will include the introduction of a 24 hour, seven day a week customer contact centre from 14 September, and improved online customer support.
UK contact centre awards open
Contact centres in the North East of UK still have time to stake a claim to be the region's best in 2010, by entering the annual North East Contact Centre Awards, says Call Centre Helper.
With exactly four weeks to go until entries close, contact centres are being reminded not to miss the deadline for the awards, which have grown to be recognised as the region's industry 'Oscars'.
Competition entries close on Friday 3 September and all entrants must download an application pack and complete their submission by this date.
