Kyocera gets reliability award

Johannesburg, 07 Nov 2006

Industry Analysts, a US-based specialist on market research and product testing, has awarded Kyocera Mita for most reliable multifunctional products (MFPs), based on its Annual 2006 Multifunctional Product Reliability Study.

Kyocera Mita's MFPs have been ranked first in 29 performance categories. For the survey, industry analysts conducted telephone interviews with 96 dealer service managers in copier dealerships throughout the US.

Service managers in this study have consistently given Kyocera devices the highest marks in an area that is of major importance to customers in choosing a new device.

"To sum it up in a single word, Kyocera reliability is excellent," says Martyn Brown, MD of local Kyocera dealer Nasatech. "We can install product with absolute confidence and know that there will not be any problems. Maintenance time is minimal - maybe 20 or 30 minutes to do a full service."

"Kyocera's long-life technology plays a key role in the leading reliability results," says Stephan Putter, technical manager at Mpumalanga Copiers. "It's typical that we only have to service machines after 400 000 or 500 000 copies - much better figures than competing products offer."

Such reliability has an enormous impact on cost of ownership and yields further savings in reducing downtime and increasing productivity.

"Innovative technology is a central focus for our company," says Paul Wendlandt, service manager at Kyocera Mita South Africa. "In particular, our long-life components and unique ceramic technology mean far less frequent replacement than you find with other products.

"Our customers and our dealer service managers achieve a true, value-for-money proposition thanks to this. It is often the case that our components run for hundreds of thousands of cycles between services without a problem - and then there is the added bonus of the extensive warranty we offer on genuine Kyocera products.

"The overall need for services and downtime is reduced and there is a significant reduction in cost of ownership and hassle," concludes Wendlandt.
