Kyocera Mita brings affordable high-speed digital A3 desktop copying to users

Johannesburg, 26 Jan 2004

The new KM-1620 from document solutions company, Kyocera Mita South Africa (KMSA), is the ideal entry-level digital copier for the SOHO (small office, home office) market and small workgroups needing a fast, flexible device that is easy-to-use.

It is the only copier in its class to offer a range of digital copy functions and paper-handling capabilities at an affordable price. The KM-1620 can also successfully compete against established competitor analogue entry-level products.

Augustina Jardim, product manager, Kyocera Mita South Africa, says the KM-1620`s high paper capacity, large memory, various digital features and optional duplex copy capability differentiates it from its competitors. "The KM-1620 also provides the fastest first-copy time and shortest warm-up time in its class."

Kyocera Mita`s unique long-life components enable the KM-1620 to offer the lowest cost of service and unbeatable cost per copy. Maintenance is not due until a massive copy volume of 150 000 pages, and toner - the only consumable - is only replaced after 15 000 copies.

Paper-handling

Rich paper-handling capabilities include a 300-sheet paper feeder and 50-sheet multi-purpose tray as standard, which can be extended to offer an impressive maximum input capacity of 1 250 sheets.

Digital functions

The standard memory of 32MB supports powerful digital functions such as electronic sort and rotate sort. It also enables the KM-1620 to produce multiple copies of originals after scanning them just once. The memory can be enhanced to 160MB.

The KM-1620 has a layout mode that saves paper by combining several copies on one page (2-in-1/4-in-1).

Duplex copying

Users do not have to sacrifice workspace when adding the optional duplex unit as it is embedded in the compact design of the KM-1620. In duplex and layout mode, paper consumption is cut significantly. The ECOcopy mode also very effectively reduces toner consumption.

Jardim concludes: "These functions and other energy-saving features, such as the power-saving mode and the minimised warm-up time, mean the KM-1620 complies with tough environmental standards set by certifications such as the `Energy Star`."
