Kyocera Mita`s KM-8030 multifunctional product (MFP) has been awarded a Buyer`s Laboratory Incorporated (BLI) certification for its results in an extended term reliability test.
During the test, conducted by BLI, a provider of product tests for the imaging industry, the KM-8030 printed two million impressions in just 100 work days. The two million impressions, the equivalent of printing 1 644 copies of JRR Tolkien`s The Lord of the Rings, were produced with no service required (other than its scheduled preventative maintenance calls every 500 000 impressions).
The test results proved the KM-8030 to be a highly-reliable product with outstanding durability and performance in busy office environments.
During the test, various print and copy jobs were run on the KM-8030, replicating real-world use in a large workgroup or department. In addition to printing 2 000 000 impressions with no service required, only 12 misfeeds occurred during the entire print run, a rate of only one misfeed every 166 666 pages.
BLI`s standard reliability test is conducted for a volume equivalent to one month of a unit`s monthly duty cycle. In this extended test, BLI subjected the KM-8030 to a reliability test that was four times as long.
For over 45 years, Buyers Laboratory Incorporated (BLI) has been the leading source for unbiased and reliable intelligence for the imaging industry. The late Arthur Kallet, the co-founder and 20-year head of the Consumers Union - publisher of the highly respected Consumer Reports magazine - founded BLI in 1961 (BLI is not affiliated with Consumers Union). In February 2004, BLI was acquired by publishing industry veterans Michael Danziger and Mark Lerch, the current Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of BLI, respectively. In 2005, BLI launched its international division, with offices in London and Hong Kong.
