The new KM-1500 digital copier from Kyocera Mita has a footprint that makes it the smallest and lightest machine in its class. This is due to the copy output that is in the centre of the unit.
Using the micro engine of a popular laser printer model from Kyocera Mita has contributed to the machine`s compact size and high reliability.
Augustina Jardim, Product Manager, Kyocera Mita South Africa says the unit is particularly suitable for small offices and for use as a convenience copier in meeting rooms and receptions. "It is also an ideal device for use in travel agencies, hotels, rental stores and pharmacies - `over the counter` businesses that have limited space, but need a copier to do frequent and quick, one-off copies."
The KM-1500 has as standard many advanced features in terms of digital functionality such as scan-once-copy-many, electronic sort and `N-Up copying`. This new model combines digital laser-quality copying and digital functionality, with desktop convenience. The user can make the most of its standard 16MB copy memory, which can be enhanced with additional memory up to a maximum of 144MB - the highest in its class.
"At 15 A4 pages per minute, and a paper input capacity of up to 550 sheets, the KM-1500 is fast and convenient. Quality results are produced at 600 x 600dpi resolution for scanning (optical) and printing," Jardim explains.
Low total cost of ownership
Kyocera Mita is known for the low total cost of ownership across its entire range, and the KM-1500 is no exception, with a low initial purchase price and low running costs. Its design enables user-setup and simple user replacement of its only consumable, toner. Service costs for periodical maintenance and replacement of spare parts are also avoided thanks to the KM-1500`s long-life components, and all these factors mean that TCO is significantly reduced.
Long-life means low costs and environment protection
The KM-1500`s long-life components guarantee smooth and reliable operation. In addition, when the KM-1500 is out of toner, only the toner needs to be replaced, not the complete imaging unit cartridge, as is often the case with other manufacturers` devices. Therefore it keeps operating costs low and at the same time ensures minimum impact on the environment.
EcoCopy mode has also been incorporated into the KM-1500, which, when selected, reduces toner consumption by approximately 30%, while maintaining an output quality more than sufficient for normal daily copying.
Superb functionality with key features
An electronic sort function as standard means multiple originals can be scanned into the memory in a single operation and then the desired number of copy sets created. Scan-once-print-many is also standard on the KM-1500 and means originals can be scanned just once before being converted to digital images and then reproduced for up to 99 sets.
A very useful feature on the KM-1500 is the layout mode `N-Up copy function`. This allows users to select images from either two or four originals, which are reduced and then combined onto a single copy, thus saving toner, paper and filing space, and at the same time further reducing costs for the user. In addition, the border line of each original can also be marked with a solid or dotted line. Most competitors` models do not have this feature and the few that do are only able to offer two originals on a page.
