Local educational product distributor Licence to Learn (L2L) will no longer distribute Adobe software products, and is tight-lipped about what influenced the decision.
L2L will only say the move comes after Adobe International took uninformed business decisions, without prior consultation with L2L, which had an immediate impact on its business.
The company says a dispute with Adobe International regarding restrictions Adobe SA historically placed on L2L prompted it as a distributor to make decisions regarding its future.
However, Adobe told ITWeb it does not comment on situations with third parties until solutions are finalised.
Hennie Badenhorst, managing member for L2L, says his company has dedicated more than three years to the Adobe product range. “We managed to grow their revenue substantially through the South African channel,” he adds.
“L2L's business had a steady year-on-year growth and developed the business to such an extent that Adobe Systems appointed them as a distributor in March 2009. This allowed L2L to offer the full Adobe product range to the channel,” Badenhorst explains.
The company says it was a distributor of Adobe educational products in SA, and offered commercial, educational and government solutions, available through the Adobe product range.
“We value the support we have been given by the industry and our reseller partners, and we look forward to grow our business in other areas and with other products,” Badenhorst concluded.
Moving forward, L2L will develop a new strategy and focus on areas within the technology sector.
Comztek and Cape Town-based Dax Data confirmed they are still distributing Adobe products in SA.
