LA Technology, the sole distributor in southern Africa for ACCPAC International, (a business unit of Computer Associates International), has announced that Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications 6.0 (VBA) will be embedded into the October 1999 release of ACCPAC Corporate Series and ACCPAC Small Business Series. The inclusion of VBA provides clients and channel partners with industry standard technology and tools that will enable them to expand, customize and integrate their ACCPAC products.
"ACCPAC`s VBA integration enables our partners and clients to easily and tightly integrate with other COM-based applications, including Microsoft Office, creating a fully integrated suite of business management solutions," comments Jeremy Waterman, MD of LA Technology.
ACCPAC`s VBA integration enables the creation of customised data entry screens that meet business-specific needs, allowing users to enter the exact information they need, as quickly as possible. The fields on the customised screens can have defined criteria, controlling data input and creating improved accuracy. Additionally, partners and clients can automate tasks such as day-end processing or weekly reporting, and easily build advanced financial analysis reports and tools.
"Support for Microsoft VBA by ACCPAC International extends ACCPAC`s ability to deliver easily deployed, high-performing business management solutions to mid-market businesses," said Christy Reichhelm, Mid-Market ERP and Accounting Industry Manager at Microsoft Corporation.

Visual Basic for Applications
Microsoft`s Visual Basic for Applications is a powerful development tool, designed for rapidly customizing and integrating packaged software applications, including Microsoft Office. VBA delivers a robust set of programming tools based on the familiar Microsoft Visual Basic development system. Using VBA tools, developers are able to create custom solutions that address specific business needs, while reducing development efforts and associated costs typically required for building solutions from the ground up. Since its introduction as a component of Microsoft Excel in the early 90 `s, and subsequent licensing to third party developers, VBA has quickly become the industry choice for scripting technology. Software products incorporating VBA technology may be easily customized to suit the needs of the application`s environment.
