Ladies and Legends golf tour launches in Swaziland

Johannesburg, 20 May 2004

The arivia.kom-sponsored "Ladies & Legends Professional Golf Tour" kicks off its 2004 schedule at the Royal Swazi Spa today with the first round of the Pro Shop Players Championship.

Featuring the top players from both the South African Senior Tour and the South African Women`s Tour, the "Ladies & Legends" is in its third year of operation.

Leon Deist, executive, market development of arivia.kom, notes that the tour furthers transformation in sport by including and developing previously disadvantaged players in the fast-growing sport of golf.

The Pro Shop Players Championship is the first 72-hole event to be played on the tour, making this a new experience for many of the seniors and all of the women, who normally play 54-hole events over three days.

Vying for the title of "Players Champion" will be the cream of SA`s eligible professionals, including former US Senior Open champion Simon Hobday, former SA Senior Open champion Duncan Lindsay-Smith, former Spanish Women`s Open champion Caryn Louw and Natou Soro, the Ivory Coast`s only woman professional.

The first three rounds of the championship are to be played in pro-am format, with the final round on Sunday featuring only the professionals.
