LAN Design announces WRQ Reflection for the Web 3.0

Johannesburg, 09 Mar 2000

LAN, a subsidiary of the MB Technologies group and a WRQ distributor, has announced the release of version 3.0 of Reflection for the Web and Reflection for the Web, Professional Edition, which provide secure web-based host access across the enterprise and beyond the firewall.

"The Java-based web-to-host solution, previously named Reflection EnterView, now features a faster component-based architecture, which allows users to download only the functionality they need," explains LAN Design product manager Neil Rosenthal. "In addition, the product offers high-performance access and management features that reduce IT costs."

New in version 3.0

Reflection for the Web enables enterprises to extend valuable corporate information on IBM mainframe, AS/400, HP, UNIX and OpenVMS hosts to business partners, employees and remote workers without compromising or performance. Version 3.0 is also easier to use with a new integrated security wizard and automatic green-screen to GUI tool.

Faster Remote Access - New component-based architecture for high-performance remote access allows users to download only the features they need. The result is faster start-up times with smaller downloads and improved productivity.

Integrated security setup - the new security proxy wizard walks users through the process of setting up secure connections on their server and automatically generates the required security certificates. The Java client and proxy provide maximum encryption and secure server authentication. 168-bit Triple DES encryption provides the highest level of security available on the web and HTTP tunneling permits secure traversal of remote firewalls without configuration changes.

Automatic Green-Screen Rejuvenation - Reflection for the Web Professional Edition includes a built-in auto-rejuvenation tool that converts IBM 3270 and IBM 5250 green-screens into web-style user interfaces on-the-fly. In addition, Java-based APIs let you use Java, JavaScript, VBScript and HTML to automate logon scripts, access dialog boxes and build web frameworks around legacy applications.

"Reflection for the Web 3.0 allows IT to take an easy step toward e-business with web-to-host access," concludes Rosenthal.
