Internet security company Symantec has appointed LAN Design as its third distributor in the South African region.
"Symantec has grown from an antivirus company to a leading Internet security company. Following the loss of distributor FSA, we needed a third distributor that would add value in the channel and increase the breadth of choice for the reseller," explains Symantec regional director Kevin Isaac.
"As a leading supplier of networking software and hardware communication products in sub-Saharan Africa, LAN Design, offers a unique approach to networking and a diverse customer base. Therefore there are good synergies with Symantec's focus on providing scalable solutions for the enterprise.

According to Isaac, the fact that both LAN Design and Symantec work across a range of networking platforms will create additional synergy between the two companies.
Isaac predicts further that Symantec's biggest growth potential lies in the corporate networking and Internet security markets. "With LAN Design we are ideally positioned to meet market demands in this sector," he says.
"Symantec will benefit substantially from this partnership through exposure to a new customer base," Smalberger adds.
"Since its establishment in 1987, LAN Design has built an enviable reputation in the industry, and we look forward to a long-standing relationship with them," Isaac concludes.
