LAN Design wins two distributors of the year awards

Johannesburg, 09 Dec 1999

Local distributor, LAN Design, walked away with two awards at Computer Reseller News Southern Africa`s (CRNSA) `Outlook 2000` awards, which was held recently.

LAN Design took first place in both the Networking & Communications Hardware and Networking Software categories.

According to George Smalberger, managing director of LAN Design, the ratings were phenomenal, with a rare six-plus out of seven for every category. The total score was 6.25, a spectacular feat in the fickle world of the channel.

In the space of only four years, CRNSA`s annual Outlook edition has become recognised as the premier barometer of success for vendors, distributors and products in the South African reseller channel.

All major distributors in the market were requested to submit a random list of 200 resellers that varied in size and demographic placing. After this list was reduplicated, it came out with a random range of dealers, retailers, resellers and value-added resellers. The target base was derived from this list.

For each criterion which included technical support to reseller and product knowledge, price, ease of doing business, product availability and delivery, the respondents were asked to rate the distributor out of seven.

LAN Design has steadily risen as a giant in CRNSA`s annual Outlook Awards. Last year also saw it top the list for the first time, after coming second to Hix in 1997, and fourth in 1996.

"We are proud to receive these awards, and have committed ourselves to develop our relationship with resellers and their product set, our product set and our value-offering to resellers," says Smalberger.
